MARTIN SCOTT MARCHITTO (Director, Designer) is a freelance theatre artist whose
experience includes, but is not limited to designing, directing and acting for theatre, opera and
musicals throughout the country.
Directing experience includes: Noises off, Deathtrap, Moon Over Buffalo, The Wayside
Motor Inn and Rumors The Shadow Box, Company, Little Shop of Horrors, Venus, Children of
Eden, Titanic the Musical, Me and My Girl. Evil Dead: the Musical, Man of LaMancha, The
Tenderland, Noises off and many more. Favorite Roles include The Lecturer in Reefer Madness:
the Musical, King Arthur in Camelot, Georg Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, Noah in Children of
Eden and Jesus in Godspell.
Martin has served as resident set designer for the Blue Barn Theatre in Omaha, NE since
September of 2008 designing all of the productions including The Goat or who is Sylvia, Bad
Jews, and God of Carnage. His set designs there for Reefer Madness: the Musical and In the Next
Room or the Vibrator Play won best set design for the Theatre Arts Guild. Off Broadway Martin
designed the set for Mack the Knife, the Life and Times of Bobby Darin.
His has been affiliated with numerous theatres including: The Ivoryton Playhouse, The
Saybrook Stage Company, The Yale Repertory Theatre, The Clarence Brown Theatre, The Lake
Erie Ballet, Opera North, Illinois Repertory Theatre, The Barrow Civic Theatre, The Academy
Theatre, The Rose Theatre, Omaha Ballet Theatre, as well as many educational institutions
though out the country.
Martin currently teaches theatre at Manhattan College, where he serves as the Players
Director. Martin holds a BA from Albertus Magnus College, an MFA from the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign and a certificate in drama from Yale School of Drama.
